Book review by Dave Roberts, The Natural History Muesum, London (Journal of General Microbiology): The use of ciliated protists as indicators of water quality has never been a widespread practice; collection and identification have always been cited high on the list of objections. What Professor Foissner and coleagues have done here is to collect together the scattered literature on the subject and standardized the saprobity measurements used.

The book begins with a chapter on methodology ... (read complete Book review by Dave Roberts as PDF)
